Fuel Coffee

-Name: Fuel Coffee

-Location: 2300 24th Ave E, Seattle, WA

-Property: Coffee shop

-How often I go there:
I have been there four times since I learned of it.

-What the shop looks like:

Fuel coffee is a simple coffee shop near the Marsh and Foster Island and Washington Park Arboretum. People can take the 48 bus to there. From bus stop to Fuel, people just has to spend five minutes.

Outside of Fuel, there are many chairs beside the tree. Maybe it is located near the Arboretum, so you can sit outside with one cup of fresh coffee and enjoy breathing the fragrant air. Entering Fuel, you could smell the strong aroma of coffee. On the right side of the door is the counter; it also is a place where baristas make coffee. Next to the counter is a middle-sized wooden cabinet. On the cabinet are many coffee cups that are designed by Fuel. Behind the counter is a huge mirror. They usually write funny words or special information on the mirror. The other side has many square wooden tables with a homely atmosphere. Beside the door is a french window that makes the shop look spacious and bright due to spreading all over in the sun. In Fuel, old people reads the newspaper, young girls type on the computer, students read books and write down the words on the paper. Because of this environment, people feel more comfortable and willing to stay for a long time.

-Why I chose it/ Why I think it is a hidden gen:
I learned of Fuel coffee by reading the Taiwanese travel book. The writer who was U.W.student, described this coffee shop with tranquil environment. It's very comfortable for reading books or studying. Especially, Fuel doesn't have so many people in there so quiet around Fuel except sometimes the cars go by. Also, there aren't many stores or restaurant near there, so you can enjoy the peaceful life.

-What is unique/ special about it:
Fuel not only sells coffee, but also sells hand-made cake. Moreover, the coffee is made by themselves. They also sell the coffee beans to clients. Fuel designed the mug cup with their logo that people could buy for souvenir.

-A comparison to places like it in my country:
In Taiwan, people do not really care about the coffee bean. Thus, we don't usually make our own coffee beans to sell. Actually, we don't plant the coffee tree because of the weather is not suitable for coffee tree. So Fuel is very special for me.

-Any other interesting information about Fuel:
Fuel has Facebook, Instagram and Twintter, so it always updates its information on social network sites, such as new products, special day for discount, activities near by Fuel and so on. People can catch the interesting information from the website.

Moon Festival

The Moon Festival is also called the Mid-Autumn Festival because it usually falls in September or early October (the 15th of the 8th lunar month, following the Chinese calendar). Especially, at that time, the moon is full and brilliant. It celebrated in my country-Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam.

The Moon Festival is backed by a love story. Houyi who is a mythological archer fell in love and married Chang'e. One day, Houyi got a pill that was elixir of life. Then he gave the pill to Chang'e for preserving. But Houyi's disciple wanted to steal that pill and enter Chang'e's bedroom by secret. He forced Chang'e to give the pill to him, but Chang'e is unwilling. So, she wallowed the pill and filed to the moon. Finally, she became the god of the moon.

Traditionally, people prepare the moon cake, pomelo and money paper to make an offering to Chang'e because people believe she will protect families and keep them together.

Barbecue is a recent custom in Taiwan on Moon festival. Families and friends get together on this day and enjoy a meal.

Absolutely, my family also celebrates this tradition on this day. We barbecue many foods, eat the moon cake with green tea and pomelos. This day is very important for my family because everyone will go home form different cities. (we are in different cities due to many reasons, such as studying, working, so it's not easy to get together). Everybody enjoys a meal on Moon Festival. By the way, we don't wear special clothes or listen the music on this day.

Special meaning in moon cake, pomelo and barbecue:
- Moon cake: It's often given as a gift or consumed during the Moon Festival. Often the cakes have egg yolks baked into the middle. It means the lunar radiance in the center od the cake. Now, it also can change to the mung bean or red bean.

- Pomelo: This fruit is like grapefruit. In Chinese pronounciation, it sounds like "care and protection" , so people usually eat this on Moon Festival.

 - Barbecue: Make families or friends to get together. We usually barbecue meats, vegetables, sea foods and so on.

Although my boss gave me target every quarter, I really loved my job. I hope I can find the same kind of job when I go back to my country.

Christmas is my favorite festival, even Christmas is not Chinese traditional festival. I usually exchange gifts with my friends in that day. Moreover, if somewhere has specific Christmas trees, we will visit there and enjoy Christmas ambiance, then have a nice Christmas meal.

I have one younger sister and one younger brother. They are very close to me. Even though we live in different cities, we usually send messages to care for others. When we were children, we played together, including listening the music, singing, swimming and so on.

She is my best friend, Renita. We were the classmate in university. We like to date with afternoon tea and travel everywhere. Also, we share everything to each other, no matter happy or sad. After graduating, we have kept in contact by phone or communication devices until now.
